Pizza Split Calculator ๐Ÿ•

The calculator that ends group chat arguments forever.

3 slices per person

About This Calculator

How It Works

Enter the number of people, their general appetite level, and the number of slices per pizza, and the calculator tells you exactly how many pizzas to order. It uses a ceiling function โ€” always rounding up โ€” because running out of pizza is the one outcome this calculator is designed to prevent. Appetite level adjusts the assumed slices per person, from light eaters to those who will absolutely eat six slices and look you in the eye while doing it.

The Formula

Pizzas needed = ceil((people ร— slices_per_person) / slices_per_pizza). Appetite level adjusts slices_per_person.

When to Use This

Use this before ordering for any group โ€” parties, office lunches, family gatherings, watching the game. The most common pizza ordering mistake is underestimating: people order based on what sounds like enough and then someone's going home hungry. Run the numbers first, then add one if it's a late night or there are teenagers involved.

Example

8 people, normal appetite, 8 slices per pizza = 3 pizzas. Always round up. Someone always wants a third slice.

Did You Know?

The world record for pizza consumption is 28 slices in 30 minutes. We don't recommend testing it. But if you do, please use this calculator first.
